Resin Trafo

Overview

Modine’s Resin Trafo coolers are complete customizable units with a cleanable cooler, fans, damper, and leakage detector. They are designed for small to medium transformer applications (such as transformer plants on sport fields, ships, or other industrial applications) where a tension commutation is needed without the setup of an oil-cooled fixed plant.

Resin Trafo coolers are niche products that are totally customized and designed specific to the client’s need and on the single application. For this reason, these coolers allow the highest specialization and personalization, especially depending on the transformer’s casing size that vary based on producer and dimensions of reference.

Resin Trafo coolers are particularly suitable for environments subject to blast dangers, where traditional oil cooling would consequently not be recommended.

This solution is very effective on cruise or merchant ships in order to comply with dangerous fluid safety rules concerning; the traditional plant is replaced by static equipment, where only the fan-motors are rotating. All mobile or semi-mobile applications can be operated by this integrated system featuring forced air circulation.

Finned Pack Heat Exchanger

At a Resin Trafo cooler’s core is a finned pack heat exchanger that allows regulating the air flow forced inside by the fan-motors. In case the fan motor is switched OFF, the unit can also be equipped with dampers that intercept the air flow.

Complete Solution

Modine supplies the complete solution, including the cooler and corresponding finned pack heat exchanger with all the control devices.  Modine CIS can also provide a stand alone heat exchanger that is then fitted by the customer into the casing.
